Here at the UK Street Dance Challenge we want to provide you with best possible experiences while attending our competitions and one of the ways we do this is by working very closely with our team of elite judges who have been in the industry for many years.

Kayla Lomas-Kirton

Kayla has been a highly successful professional dancer in the industry for the past 7 years. California native turned Londoner, Kayla’s passion for dance started at the early age of 3 with ballet, jazz and Tap classes. Her training progressed when she joined Bodyworks Dance Studios in Cambridge, then went on to graduate from London Studio Centre in London with a BA Honours Degree in Theatre Dance including a range of styles such as Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Hip-Hop, Singing and Drama.

Kayla was scouted by Birdgang Dance company in 2008 where she really homed in on her Hip Hop training and was overwhelmed when she landed her first professional job with them as assistant choreographer on UK’s So You Think You Can Dance.

Kayla’s main passion is Hip Hop theatre and has been a Dancer/Dance Captain for many shows including: Zoonation’s – Into the Hoods, Some Like iIt Hip Hop, Into the Hoods: remixed, and looking forward to being Alice in this years version of Mad Hatters Tea Party; Boy Blue Ent. – The Five and the Prophecy of Prana; Blaze – Italy tour; West End show Thriller Live; The London 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony and the Baku 2015 European Games Closing ceremony.

As well as theatre Kayla has also worked with Artists such as Rita Ora and Mohombi (world tour). In 2012, as a member of Boadicea Crew, Kayla was a finalist on Sky 1’s Got To Dance which lead to a UK arena tour with Diversity.

Alongside her professional dance career Kayla also has a passion for teaching and working with the new generations of dancers aspiring to follow their passion too. By leading workshops and teaching classes across the UK she hopes she can assist that journey for others and continue to spread the love of dance and performance 🙂

Duwane Taylor

Duwane Taylor is a highly respected, versatile and Pioneering performer and Choreographer from North London. His love for music drew him to begin studying ballet and contemporary for two years, at the barnet college north London in 2006. During this time he developed a love and passion for the street dance styles and for the next few years began to train and gain as much knowledge as possible with the motto versatility is key.

Though versed in many street styles he grew particularly close to the style of Krump and began to research, learn and develop further in the Krump style. This hard work was recognised when he became the Stylefest UK Krump champion 2009. Since then he trained to a high level and became one of the leading Krump dancers and teachers in the UK today. Duwane Taylor is also the world of Dance Krump champ 2014. He is privileged enough to have shared a stage with one of the creators of Krump, Tight Eyez, who has also shown Duwane a great amount of respect and love for his work within the Krump world.

In 2012, Duwane created Pioneering Krump crew Buckness Personified. Buckness Personified have gone from strength to strength changing the way Krump is viewed and perceived, making waves in the Krump community both nationally and internationally. Buckness Personified have been leading the Krump theatre movement and are continually breaking barriers and boundaries for this often misunderstood style.
In 2016 Duwane Taylor and Buckness Personified were chosen to work with world renown choreographer Hofesh Scheter in a project for East London Dance’s East wall warm up and amazing accolade which has helped to further Duwane’s goal of spreading Krump to the masses.

Duwane is also the creator of dance wear brand ‘’Constant Creativity’’ which aims for each dancer to see themselves as artists who are inspired to create constantly through their experiences everyday.

Marlon "SWOOSH" Wallen

Marlon “SWOOSH”” Wallen is a highly respected creative director & dancer in the UK & abroad who graduated from City and Islington with a BTEC National diploma in dance where he studied Contemporary, Jazz and Ballet. He has over a decade of professional experience within the Hip Hop & Commercial dance field where he danced & choreographed for a diverse amount of artists & established companies. Music & Dance has always been his heart and passion since the age of 4, inspired by Michael Jackson, James Brown, Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly etc.

SWOOSH is the CEO|Director of Flawless for over 10 years. He created FLAWLESS alongside his business partner Amelia Benoit (Flawless Management) in 2004 and went public in 2005 bringing something fresh, new and original to the dance world.

With his precise, innovative, dynamic & current choreography, SWOOSH has travelled worldwide to teach, choreograph & perform including San fransico, New York, China, Hong Kong, Dubai, India, France, Germany, Italy, etc. His professional experience ranges from television & film, to live concerts, corporate & theatre with his work viewed by millions. Credits include: StreetDance 1 and 2, Britain’s Got Talent, London 2012, Victoria Beckham,Wetslife, Kylie Minogue, Madonna, JLS and many more.

Most recently started up Flawless Dance School and continues to develop dancers to become the best they can be!

B-Girl Roxy

A former World Trampolining Champion, Roxy has now established herself as a major force on the international breaking circuit having competed all around the globe. As one of the top b-girls on the planet, Roxy is well known for her incredible freezes and flexibility as well her effortless power. She is an amazing show performer with a mesmerising presence and an array of awe inspiring moves which never fail to amaze her audience.

Roxy is an experienced professional dancer and has featured in countless stage shows, TV projects and commercials, such as the Royal Variety show, and the Beijing Olympics. She has an extensive list of accolades under her belt holding 2 Guinness World records for headspins, and having represented the UK at numerous international competitions including the UK B-Boy Championships World Finals, Battle of the Year World Finals, The Notorious IBE, Outbreak and being the first female to ever compete at the R16 world finals!

Claire Hough

Claire “Shortie Buck” Hough is a leading female krumper in the UK and a member of pioneering crew Buckness Personified. Claire teaches, performs and battles all around the UK and parts of Europe trying to push the boundaries of KRUMP and introduce the style to new audiences.

In her 10 years of dance Claire has also trained in hip-hop with the likes of Boy Blue Entertainment and hip-hop theatre company Far From The Norm.

Credits include – Apple, Sky 1 Got To Dance, X Factor live shows, Illest & EBS UK Champion, Mayor Of London “London is Open Campaign” and more.

Kieran Lai

Kieran Lai is  22 years old. He began as a novice dancer learning from Youtube videos at the age of 13 and since then he has had received professional training in the street styles – Popping, Locking, Krumping and Hop Hop. He has won numerous titles in British and World championships.

Kieran has performed in front of Heads of States for the London Olympic Welcoming Ceremony in 2012, played a major role ‘Kurt’ in a UK teenage streetdance movie, All Stars, in 2013 and has also appeared on live tv such as Sunday Brunch on Channel 4. His latest and most successful TV appearances were on Britain’s Got Talent and BBC Young Dancer where he reached the live semi-finals and finals respectively. He was praised on Britain’s Got Talent by Simon Cowell as “one of the best dancers to ever have appeared on the show”.

He was also recently on the E4 Stage School TV show that aired last year as the main cast.

Emma Houston

Emma Houston is a multi-faceted dance artist and choreographer currently based in London, UK.

From choreographing and directing for Adidas Originals “Adidas Falcon” latest campaign to representing Levis as an ambassador, Emma is also creating Hip Hop theatre that delves into gender politics and celebrates diversity of expression outside gender binaries.

Emma is known as a Bgirl and battles nationally and internationally. Also trained in Contemporary dance, (Laban class of 2014) Emma’s performing career is not only limited to the Hip Hop sector. Keen on collaborations and making undeniable work, Emma works with a range of artists and companies who inspire her and continue to fuel her passion.

Some credits include : FFTN X Crying out Loud, Rosie Kay Dance Company, Joon Dance, Ella Mesma Dance Company, Simple Cypher, Adam Kammerling and more.

Mikey Ureta

MIKEY URETA is a Professional Dancer, Choreographer & Creative based in London.

His dance journey began in 2008 with ZooNation, where he spent 2 years learning various foundations & developing his skills in a weekly open class. He then went on to continue his training with ZooNation Youth Company.

There, he spent 4 years working & performing, which lead to his first lead performing role, his first choreography job & his first dance captain position in the full-length theatre production of Groove On Down The Road.

Since then, he has worked on over 10 theatre productions in London, he has performed in Holland, Latvia, Turkey & France, as well as choreographing a show at the Beijing Comedy Festival in China.

Mikey spent over 2 years training with Glenn Hudson & Definitives in London. He has performed & work on 2 U.K Tours with ZooNation & Flawless UK. In 2014, he co-founded the group Boyband, who reached the Live Finals of Sky1’s Got To Dance, as well as Britain’s Got Talent in 2015.

He has taught regularly around the U.K for the past 7 years, and has held many weekly classes at studios in London & Winchester. Mikey has been travelling a lot internationally with work for the last few years and has taught classes at camps & events in places that include Los Angeles, Denmark, Romania, Spain, Italy & Latvia. He adjudicates regularly across the U.K also, and has judged competitions in Romania, Italy, Spain & Germany.
